This cake is moist, tasty and simply divine. A hint of cocoa combined with cream cheese filling makes this cake a rich and delightful treat.
- 3 1/2 cups cake flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/4 half and half or buttermilk
- Grease two 9-inch pans or one 9x13 sheet pan.
- Incorporate oil and sugar.
- Add red coloring.
- Add eggs one at a time mix thoroughly and scrape down frequently.
- Shift cake flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Mix half and half/buttermilk and vanilla in a bowl.
- Add dry mixture and milk mixture to oil mixture alternating between the two. Scrape down frequently. Mix till just combined.
- Pour in pan(s). Bake at 335F degrees for 35-45 minutes or until sides pull away from pan.
